For many of us, the end of one year and beginning of a new one is a time of reflection. A time to look back on what we’ve achieved, and where we missed the mark, to understand what we did right and where we can improve moving forwards.

As a board member myself I can attest to the fact that board members do not know what they don’t know about their own board. And that lack of knowledge can be incredibly detrimental to achieving the mission and vision of the organization.

A board assessment can be as simple as having each member take a few minutes to answer a short questionnaire followed by a discussion about the results at the next board meeting.
