NXTBoard is delighted to announce that Michell Curry, one of NXTBoard's account executives, has been appointed as Membership Engagement Vice Chair on the board of directors of the Austin chapter of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN).
Originally from Alabama, Michell has resided in Austin for almost seven years. She can’t imagine leaving the city (or the breakfast tacos!) She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with concentrations in race, religion, and politics from The University of Alabama. When she's not advising board members on how they can leverage NXTBoard's board portal software to support their board management and governance efforts, she can be found hiking around Austin with her dog Coley, performing improv, or hosting dinner parties for friends. Michell is excited to help YNPN achieve its mission to provide accessible professional development opportunities that empower young leaders and advance the nonprofit community.
"I am beyond excited to serve as the Vice Chair of Membership Engagement for YNPN’s 2019 Austin Board. There were a large number of applicants interviewing for the available board positions, and I felt honored to have been chosen to represent the organization. Young Nonprofit Professionals Network is a great community of young career-oriented individuals that are hoping to engage with like-minded people who are looking to advance the nonprofit community.
Prior to accepting the board position, I frequented a number of YNPN events that allowed me to engage with nonprofit leaders that play key roles in Austin’s philanthropic community. Those interactions inspired me to take my volunteer efforts to the next level. It was perfect timing that YNPN was seeking new board members!
The City of Austin is very special to me, and I found myself wanting to contribute to a local organization’s mission in a more strategic fashion. I believe that my sales and recruiting background will lend to my efforts on the Membership Engagement Committee. Collaboration is key, and I’m sure that I will learn a great deal from current board members. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to bring a creative flair in recruitment and marketing efforts for new individual and organizational memberships. I look forward to building new relationships within the greater Austin community!"
